VIRAL GARLIC PARMESAN MELTING CABBAGE
Creamy, Cheesy Cabbage That Melts in Your Mouth
Ingredients
- 1 large green cabbage, cut into 8 wedges (keep core intact)
- 3 tbsp olive oil, divided
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small yellow onion, finely diced (optional)
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened and cubed
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a large baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
- Cut cabbage into 8 wedges, keeping the core so wedges stay together. Pat dry.
- Heat 2 tbsp olive oil and 2 tbsp butter in skillet over medium-high heat. Sear cabbage wedges 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Transfer wedges to baking dish.
- In same skillet, add remaining 1 tbsp oil and 1 tbsp butter. Sauté onion 2 minutes, add garlic 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add cream cheese, heavy cream, and chicken broth. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
- Stir in 3/4 cup Parmesan, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Pour sauce evenly over cabbage wedges. Spoon sauce between layers.
- Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan on top.
- Bake uncovered 20-25 minutes until cabbage is tender and sauce is bubbling.
- Broil 2-3 minutes for golden crispy top. Watch closely.
- Rest 5 minutes, garnish with parsley, serve warm.
